After our friendly host Eleanora waved us off we had a very long descent then an ascent took us past the iconic Plomin power plant, Croatia's tallest structure!
After Plomin there was a stunning viewpoint and from there we had an amazing coastal ride looking across to islands and around the coast to Rijeka. Istria overall is has been a real highlight of the trip and today in particular was perhaps the best of all.
During our lunch we had a stunning view and were completely covered in chafer beetles (they seemed particularly attracted to Mat's hair). We met a German couple who had cycled the same road when it was part of Yugoslavia; they had a drone and the guy took some footage and showed us the even more amazing bird's eye view.
The road into Rijeka got busier with beach towns and tourist hotspots before turning into shipyards and abandoned industrial areas before finally bringing us into the centre of town. We are now ready for a break and to see what Croatia's 3rd biggest city has to offer.
