Day 49 Split

Today is another rest/work day. Mat woke up in a bit of pain from the cyst operation yesterday and didn't really get a lot done. In the afternoon, we went out for a slow walk in the city. We went to the cellars of Diocletian's palace, which are an enormous series of underground rooms that were completely filled in with rubble until the 1960s when archeologists excavated them. The scale of the palace is really impressive. We then visited Froggyland, a collection of 507 taxidermy frogs, in a similar vein to Mr Potter's animals. This was an incredible collection of Victorian taxidermy, portraying a wide variety of bizarre scenes entirely with frogs.

Split is a beautiful city to wander around, they've built in and around the Roman palace making it maze-like with unexpected architectural features. This is Republic square.
