Day 8 Girona

We started the day along the beach, then joined the road for a nice, easy 15km to Calella for coffee and snacks. We joined the N2 highway and had a couple of big (for us) hills. Lots of encouraging toots from cars and shouts from other cyclists. We saw a couple of touring cyclists but it's mostly racing bikes. The N2 turned into the A2 autopista but there was a service road all the way alongside. We grabbed more refreshments at a service station then followed the service road all the way into Girona. It's so much greener here, fields full of wheat, spring flowers and trees in blossom including elderflower. First stop in Girona was an official Sombra map pin but sadly we couldn't find it. Had lunch under a flowering wisteria archway in a lovely park while we waited to check in then start exploring Girona. It's a really beautiful city, we walked along the city walls and wandered around the old city.
