Kat & Mat's big bike trip
Day 4 Miami Platja
We started the day at a bike shop in Vinaròs, where Kat got two new anti-puncture tyres and two new anti-puncture inner tubes. The guy in the shop said he'd be surprised if she got another flat before we reached Turkey.
We left Valencia today and entered Catalonia. The morning was 40km of very strong headwinds, all the way to Amposta, but we found five Sombras en route so that made up for it. Lunch was a kebab, sheltering from the sun and the wind. The afternoon was an equally hard 48km, fighting to stay on our bikes as the wind blew us all around.
The Eurovelo 8, the route we're sort of following, is barely marked in Catalonia. In Valencia there were reassuring signs every 750m, but I don't think I saw one all afternoon here. Also, the route is in a much worse state, and it's wayyy more hilly. Maybe nobody rides this part?
We called it a day and jumped on a train to avoid the last 15km, which was a really great idea. Arrived at our accommodation about 18:00, feeling exhausted.
We have another 90km day tomorrow, and are already planning exit strategies if the wind is too strong again!
