Mat & Kat's big bike trip
Day 33 Trieste
Latisana will forever be known as Città della pioggia, Raintown. It was raining when we arrived, it rained all evening, and there were heavy storms with hail in this morning.
Instead of a miserable, wet 75km ride to Trieste in this, we're getting the train there. Thank you Trenitalia for such a great service and having so many bike spaces on your trains. If you could also install lifts in your stations so we don't have to carry our heavy bicycles up and down stairs, that would be even more awesome.
We arrived in Trieste after about an hour, it was still raining and quite chilly. Nobody told us about the wind in Trieste! It's called La Bora and it's very much a feature of the city.
After we finally checked into our apartment there were blue skies but it was not warm. First port of call was to drop Mat's bike off for new tyres, then we walked up to the cathedral, down to the water's edge and around very grand streets. It's an attractive city - but so windy!
