Kat & Mat's big bike trip
Day 63 Sutomore
Some interesting facts at this point in the ride: we've ridden 2,500km and we have less than 1,000km left according to our original plan.
Our total spend for the trip so far has just passed €10,000, which is €145 per day average for everything: food, accommodation, bike maintenance, surgery etc.
And today's ride is scheduled to be pretty hilly! It was a flat start, as far as Tivat where we had a tour on board an old Yugoslav submarine, and then the road got a lot busier and a lot less fun.
We had a taste of the famous Balkan driving! The road from Tivat to Budva was under construction, being upgraded from two lanes to four with a median. A driver was clearly used to turning left rather than having to turn right and go to the next junction, so he just drove against traffic the wrong way till he reached a roundabout, beeping to warn people he was there.
We stopped in a pretty park in Budva for a break from the traffic and the sun. Everywhere you go in Montenegro there's a gigantic limestone mountain looming in the background.
The afternoon was hills, hills, hills all the way to our destination, and then a final three flights of stairs to get to the apartment. 🥵
