Kat & Mat's big bike trip
Day 32 Latisana
Mat: Today was supposed to be very wet and rainy, but by 11:00 we'd only had a few spots and so we're very happy. It's a gentle flat ride through small towns and alongside canals on quiet roads. We're taking lots of bike paths today.
We stopped for lunch on a park bench at a small town called Torre di Mosto. I had a 45 minute call with Maddie, and when it ended I realised I had a flat tyre! We found a tiny fragment of sharp metal embedded in the tyre. This makes me determined to get new tyres in Trieste in a few days.
A few hours later we ran into an enormous thunderstorm and had to take shelter under an abandoned house until it passed.
But we made it and we're still smiling! The hotel has this amazing 70s wooden character, with gigantic room key fobs and a massive metal shoe shine machine in the hallway.
We went out for pizza, trying to avoid the torrential rain. Earlier this week Kat accidentally ordered a pizza with anchovies, and then I did it this evening! Ugh, I'm going to need some chocolate to take the taste away.
