Kat & Mat's big bike trip
Day 65 Shkodër
Another rest day, this time in the lovely Shkoder. It's Albania's 4th biggest city, located on the confluence of rivers and a huge lake. It's fairly low rise, mostly two storey buildings, with several pedestrianised areas and a large park surrounded by cafes and bars.
All in all it's very chilled and super friendly. There's a bazaar selling all sorts, including amazing fresh fruit and veg. Supermarkets are better stocked than Montenegro and Croatia and everything is a fraction of the cost. We did exchange some Euro for Lek but so far everyone accepts Euro or cards.
Albania suddenly feels very different to all the other countries we've visited on this trip so far. There are lots of mosques (even though this area of Albania is mostly Catholic) and we hear calls to prayer throughout the day. Electric cables in the street are quite breathtaking and mildly terrifying.
So far we are loving Albania 😍
